David M. Roberts received a BA from Haverford College in 1970 and a MA from New York University in 1974. As fate would have it, a chance meeting with a passenger while driving a taxicab (to help pay for graduate school) diverted him from academics and landed him a job renovating apartments and soho lofts in New York City. David moved to Hilton Head in 1979 and spent his first five years working as lead carpenter for a local construction company. He founded Sanddollar Construction in 1984 and continued to work as an interior and exterior trim subcontractor, as well as building custom homes on a referral basis. Since 1993 Sanddollar Construction, Inc. has concentrated on building custom homes exclusively. David personally supervises the entire construction process and builds six to ten homes annually. The company's mission is to provide the best qualitiy construction at a fair price, with prompt responsive service, attention to detail, and timely project completion.
